Visser & Smit Hanab today scooped the No-Dig Award with its entry "Boringen onder Katendrecht" (Drillings below Katendrecht).
The NSTT No-Dig Award is given to a client, contractor, supplier or researcher who has encouraged the development and/or use of trenchless techniques in a unique way, for instance by using innovative technology or innovative applications.
The drillings below Katendrecht were carried out in March 2013 as part of the construction of De Nieuwe Warmteweg; a 26-km long district heating network in Rotterdam. Visser & Smit Hanab completed several drillings along the route of this district heating network (both HDD and closed front drillings). The two 1,500 m HDDs below Katendrecht can, however, be seen as a daring exploit. Click here for more information on the project.
