Business units and support services
Visser & Smit Hanab has five business units, subdivided into various product and services groups. In Belgium, these product and services groups operate under the collective name of Visser & Smit Hanab nv . Support services such as Human Resources, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Communications, Risk Management, Health & Safety and Finance handle all the auxiliary operations.

Sustainable projects

We are very adept at quickly navigating the development process so that we can start building and completing innovative and sustainable projects expediently.

Product development
Horizontal water well drilling (HDDW) and dyke defences (DMC). Our product development follows our philosophy of technological advancement and sustainable innovation.

For instance, we use the filter tubes from the HDDW system in our partner VolkerWessels Telecom's Dyke monitoring and conditioning system (DMC-system) of.

International technology
The best idea in the Netherlands. Or in the world. Visser & Smit Hanab is always also on the lookout for innovative products and new concepts in the international technology market. Techniques or ideas that could prove of added value to our business. Some recent examples include ozone-oxidation and ORC technology. With these kinds of concepts, the key to success lies in the partnership with developers.

History

Visser & Smit Hanab's roots run deep into the last century. In the past hundred or more years, the company has grown to become the specialist in above-ground and underground pipelines and cable infrastructure.

  

Visser & Smit

Visser & Smit first saw the light of day in early 1900. At the time, the company was involved primarily in installing distribution pipes and operating waterworks companies.

By the late 1920s, it became NV Visser & Smit Aanneming Maatschappij and included activities in building public utilities, pile work, concrete work and pipework.

Visser & Smit Hanab

Hanab (Handels en Aannemingsbedrijf) was founded in 1945. In the early 1970s both companies were in different hands. Visser & Smit was taken over by Baggermaatschappij Adriaan Volker and Hanab by the Stevin Group. Following the merger in 1978 between Volker and Stevin, Visser & Smit was split into Visser & Smit Bouw and Visser & Smit Leidingen. The latter entity merged back into Hanab a few years later, creating Visser & Smit Hanab bv in 1979. The company set up offices in Papendrecht.

After the merger in 1979, several other companies were taken over by Visser & Smit Hanab:

  • 1989: Van Eijk Bedrijven in Gouda and Technisch Bedrijf Gulikers in Beek
  • 2000: Aquavia in Landegem (Belgium)
  • 2001: Welstaal in Heemskerk

Certification

As a renowned construction firm, Visser & Smit Hanab naturally has a range of different certifications.
Our company is ISO 9001 and 14001, ISO 3834, OHSAS 18001, VCA, KIWA CKB and BRL 7000 certified and we have a level 3 CO2 awareness certificate.
We also comply with the German DVGW and WHG Fachbetrieb TUV Nord standards.
